CACTUS
AMERICAN HARD ROCK & BLUES-ROCK LEGENDS

Formed in 1970, CACTUS is one of the pioneering American hard rock and blues-rock bands whose powerful sound helped define an era of heavy, guitar-driven music. Known for their explosive performances, driving rhythms, and electrifying blues influences, the band earned a reputation as “America’s Led Zeppelin” and established a lasting place in rock history.

CACTUS was founded by legendary drummer Carmine Appice and bassist Tim Bogert, both formerly of Vanilla Fudge, alongside guitarist Jim McCarty and vocalist Rusty Day. Together, the original lineup created a distinctive sound that combined the raw intensity of electric blues with the power and musicianship of emerging hard rock.

Through the decades, CACTUS has remained an influential name in classic rock, with its music continuing to resonate with generations of musicians and fans. Following various lineup changes and periods of inactivity, Carmine Appice revived the band, carrying its legacy forward with new recordings and live performances.

The band’s recent creative resurgence includes Temple of Blues — Influences & Friends, released in June 2024, featuring collaborations with celebrated rock and blues musicians. Continuing that musical direction, Temple of Blues II, released through Cleopatra Records, brings together another impressive collection of guest artists.

Recent recordings include “Back Door Man,” featuring Eric Gales, Billy Sheehan, and Artie Dillon, and a powerful interpretation of Howlin’ Wolf’s “300 Pounds of Joy,” featuring Ty Tabor of King’s X. These projects celebrate the band’s blues foundations while introducing the unmistakable CACTUS sound to new audiences.

Today, CACTUS continues to perform under the leadership of founding drummer Carmine Appice, joined by Artie Dillon on guitar, James Caputo on bass, and Ed Terry on vocals.

With its roots firmly planted in the formative years of American hard rock and its creative energy extending into the present, CACTUS delivers an authentic concert experience built on decades of musical history, extraordinary musicianship, and the enduring power of blues-driven rock.

CACTUS is available for corporate events, Festivals, Concerts, Cruise Ships, Casinos, Theaters, Trade Shows, “Meet & Greets” and other venues and events.
